Our story

Hello, I’m a retired Melbourne granny and the maker behind The Captain’s Hook. I was lucky to learn crochet young from my left handed mum, which was perfect for this left hander. What began as a relaxing hobby making pieces for family grew through requests from friends, commissions for wonderful work colleagues, social media, fetes and markets.

For more than a decade, crochet has been my happy place. If I have five minutes to sit down, you’ll usually find a hook and yarn in my hands.

Every item is made with care, patience and pride in quality, creating pieces designed to be enjoyed and to stand the test of time. My work has been put through plenty of real life kid testing, and it holds up to the challenge.

A special part of my work is creating replica dogs for their owners, including treasured memorial pieces for beloved companions who have crossed the rainbow bridge. It’s an honour to make something so personal and meaningful.
